The Holmes Brothers - Speaking In Tongues We continue an annual tradition, as our stable of reviewers take this month to list their Top Ten blues discs for the previous year. Nearly everyone included The Holmes Brothers' Speaking In Tongues, making this Alligator release an easy choice for "Blues CD of the Year." See all of the lists in the Pick Hit section.

A couple of veterans of the music world, John Carswell and Zane Rudolph, come together with a group called Blues Union. Their new CD, Extra Blue, is our Surprise feature this month.

We take a look back at a 1997 album from Chicago guitarist John Primer in our Flashback section this month.

This month's What's New section features new releases from Guitar Shorty, Paul deLay, Kim Simmonds and Curley Bridges, reissues of excellent discs from Larry Davis, Eddy Clearwater, Bobby "Blue" Bland and Muddy Waters, and an anthology of classic blues assembled by Rolling Stone Bill Wyman.
