The venerable Robert Cray is back with another very fine, soulful blues album, That's What I Heard, with its heavy emphasis on the Memphis soul sound. It's our Pick Hit for the month.

Here's a big-time discovery for our Surprise CD of the month. A native of Costa Rica, Jose Ramirez has spent a chunk of the last decade on the east coast blues scene, with a 2nd place finish in the 2020 International Blues Challenge on his résumé, and more recently worked with producer Anson Funderburgh on the outstanding Here I Come.

Our Flashback feature looks back at a past album on Paula Records from blues siblings Nolan Struck & King Edward, appropriately titled Brother to Brother.

Our What's New section features new CDs from Victor Wainwright & the Train, Junior Watson, Jim Gustin & Truth Jones, Albert Castiglia, Ghalia, Giles Robson, Wentus Blues Band, Tony Holiday, Sparky Parker, Miss Bix, and more.
